Billy Pilgrim as a Saint or Nutcase in Slaughterhouse Five Billy is a nut, hes just plain bonkers. For started Billy has a history of mental problems he has been institutionalized twice. The first time was when he father died this was while he was in training, before he went off to war. The second time was when he came back from the war. Plus he had the head injury from the plane crash. He only started talking about the Tralfamadorians after the plane. And its odd that every thing about the Tralfamadorians is from those good old Kilgore Trout novels. Now remember Billy first started to read Trouts novels when he committed himself, this was second time he was in the nut house it was after the war. The whole notion of time, the†¦show more content†¦It doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure out that he wouldnt have trouble finding a job he was set for life. Billy even knew he was crazy to be asking her. Isnt it odd that Billys Time Traveling only happens in stressful situations and moments? Billy seems to have no control over it. It seems like whenever things take a turn for the wors t Billy time travels to Tralfamador to get away from it all. In Tralfamador all of his needs are taken care of. Tralfamador is a fantasyland for Billys. On Tralfamador Billy has this knockout wife, Montana. Yet Montana on Earth is a porno star, and Billy found out about her while in New York City at a porno bookstore. The whole wife thing just yells insanity! Billy is married to a woman who he finds physical unattractive so of course he would have thoughts of a woman who was beautiful as Montana, its like a guilty pleasure thing. It in deed makes sense for a man being that sexually deprived and unhappy and highly unlucky, to go crazy. You cant really live if your not happy, may be thats why Billy does not resist death, like a normal person would. So heres what I think, Billy is a crazy nutcase! Whenever the real world gets too hard he time travels to Tralfamador, hes little fantasyland where everything is wonderful, and he has his Hollywood wife. Is Billy crazy? Many visionaries, saints and great mind are considered crazy during their lifetime because they were before their time. Such visionaries

Thematic Comparison of Harrison Bergeron and the Incredibles Essay Example

Thematic Comparison of Harrison Bergeron and the Incredibles Paper Thematic Comparison of â€Å"Harrison Bergeron† and The Incredibles â€Å"Harrison Bergeron† and The Incredibles are similar stories that both express equality amongst everybody. In the short story â€Å"Harrison Bergeron†, the residents of the city have no choice but to have their individual abilities handicapped. When it comes to The Incredibles, the protagonists are not allowed to use their special abilities to save citizens within the city. Although the abilities these characters have are natural, they are prevented from using them in the community and they are told to keep their powers to themselves. An example in â€Å"Harrison Bergeron† is when people who are above average considering knowledge, are to use an ear radio which blasts unusual sounds which prevents the individual from thinking in depth. This is used so that no one has more knowledge and understanding than another individual in the community. A similar situation appeared in the movie The Incredibles, where Dash was not allowed to participate in any kind of sport related activity because he had an ability which allows him to run real fast which would give away their family secret of them being superheroes. In both stories their individual characteristics were taken away from them making no one unique and to show equality. When comparing both stories the only difference is that in â€Å"Harrison Bergeron† their talents were handicapped so everyone could be equal, and in The Incredibles the superheroes were to hide their special powers to protect their real identity and keep their family safe. Talents that people have are not there to be kept for themselves but to be shared with the rest of the world and take on new challenges. Conjunctive Adverbs

Conjunctive Adverbs Conjunctive Adverbs Conjunctive Adverbs By Maeve Maddox Conjunctions are words that link words, phrases, and clauses and provide a smooth transition between ideas. Adverbs modify verbs, adjectives, and other adverbs. Some adverbs can also join or show connections between ideas. When they do this, they are called conjunctive adverbs. Conjunctive adverbs show comparison, contrast, sequence, cause-effect, or other relationships between ideas. The most common conjunctive adverbs are: accordingly also besides consequently conversely finally furthermore hence however indeed instead likewise meanwhile moreover nevertheless next nonetheless otherwise similarly still subsequently then therefore thus Conjunctive adverbs function in three ways. 1. They indicate a connection between two independent clauses in one sentence: The primary meaning of the term  Ã¡ ¸ ¥eá ¸ ¥Ã‚  was million or millions; subsequently, a personification of á ¸ ¤eá ¸ ¥ was adopted as the Egyptian god of infinity. In this explanation of why a particular word was personified the way it was, subsequently joins the ideas and conveys sequence at the same time. The word heh means millions; it follows that the personification derived from heh would be a god of infinity. 2. They link ideas in two or more sentences. Democracy has empowered thousands upon thousands of the â€Å"selfish, ignorant, timid, stubborn, or foolish,† who come from a mix of different nationalities. All hope is not lost, however, since there are â€Å"hundreds who are wise.†    In this quotation from a speech by Woodrow Wilson, the however connects and contrasts â€Å"thousands of foolish citizens† in the first sentence with â€Å"hundreds who are wise† in the second sentence. 3. They show relationships between ideas within an independent clause. We are determined to do whatever must be done in the interest of this country and, indeed, in the interest of all to protect the dollar as a convertible currency at its current fixed rate. In this quotation from a speech by John F. Kennedy, indeed connects ideas within the sentence: the idea of doing something on a national level and on an international level as well. Punctuation note: A conjunctive adverb within a sentence is set off by commas. A conjunctive adverb that begins or ends a sentence is set off by one comma: Therefore, let us reconsider this legislation that marginalizes a large proportion of employees. Instructional Strategies Concept Paper Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

Instructional Strategies Concept Paper - Essay Example al strategies, Denny has first to be acquainted with the epistemological framework of which Cynthia Oakes operates – which is the constructivist approach. Constructivism is ongoing meaning-making through authentic engagement- remains a useful idea for learners and instructors at all levels of educations and training (Reiser & Dempsey, 2012). This is to ensure that they speak the same language and able to design the instruction program to the satisfaction of the stakeholders. This would entail needs analysis, research, interview and a lot of resourcefulness on the part of Denny. Second, Denny has to craft a program that is consistent with the constructivist approach which engages learners in a process of inquiry and activity instead of providing the right answer. Denny’s program has to generate multiple ideas and answer from his students in solving a certain problem which is a valuable process of constructivist approach. This would include tools that would facilitate discussion that promotes the process of inquiry and activity. When clients are vague with the instructions and objectives of a learning program, instructional designers has to be resourceful in order to â€Å"fathom† what the client really needs. This would require extensive research on the part of the instructional designer. First, such as in the case of Dennys, requires understanding on the framework of which the client operates. In the case of Cynthia, the constructivist approach. It would help a lot if the instructional designer can view the videos on how program was implemented. The instructional designer could then dig in at the available literature about the program to understand its thrust. In Denny’s case it was the grant proposal. Sifting through the proposal would give the instructional designer an insight about the instructional needs of the client through the justification of the project. Then one can interview the teachers about their instructional needs to have a
